DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Educational Partnership Center (EPC) coordinates new and longstanding student academic preparation efforts of the University of California, Santa Cruz with the goal of increasing access and opportunity to postsecondary education for underserved students across the Monterey Bay and Silicon Valley/San Jose regions. We provide an array of direct services, supporting students on the college-going pathway through tutoring, mentoring, academic planning and counseling, leadership training, test preparation, college awareness and enrichment, and teacher professional development. Programs in the EPC include:
  • California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP)
  • California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS)
  • California Reading and Literature Project (CRLP)
  • Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP)
  • Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP)
  • Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA)

JOB SUMMARY

The California Reading and Literature Project provides quality, researched-based, Common Core Standards aligned professional learning opportunities to educators in the Monterey Bay Region including Salinas, Monterey, and Santa Cruz. Under the direct supervision of the Regional Director of CRLP, the administrative coordinator will provide outreach support in updating our regional district contacts and logistical aspects of the CRLP on the UCSC campus. The incumbent will coordinate logistics and provide administrative support to prepare for successful professional learning opportunities virtually and possible in-person in May-July, 2022. Responsibilities include responding to administrator, teacher, and school district inquiries, providing support to the Regional Director in the recruitment of teacher leaders and participants of our professional learning opportunities. They will be responsible for purchasing books and materials for year-round and summer needs, providing administrative support to the CRLP outreach staff, and event coordination. The Administrative Coordinator will also support the CRLP by maintaining timely and positive communication with all regional school districts and teacher leaders using web-based surveying tools, digital newsletters as well as mass mailing services such as Mail Chimp, Constant Contact, Smore, etc. Finally, the Administrative Coordinator will assist with marketing and website updating using digital services.

APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

Salary Information: Salary Range: $21.52 - $30.50/Hour. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.

JOB DUTIES
  • 40% - Marketing: Create flyers and registration forms for all professional learning events. Use online newsletters to market events and track analytics.
  • 25% - Outreach: Maintain and update contact information for all school districts for teachers and administrators in Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and parts of Santa Clara counties.
  • 25% - Requisitions: Create, submit, and manage PO requisitions in CruzBuy.
  • 10% - Data Entry and Website Update: Enter data for events for CRLP in the CSMP database and update website as needed (min. monthly). Create, organize, and collect sign-in sheets for online events and help facilitate in person as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a high-level, high-volume administrative office.
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills sufficient to coordinate and complete a number of competing assignments with a high level of accuracy within established deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills with demonstrated ability to interact professionally, represent the program successfully, and establish and maintain a positive working relationship with constituents such as teachers, administrators, directors, academic coaches, university stakeholders, and the general public.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and lifestyles, demonstrating sensitivity to their needs.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer operating systems, peripherals, graphic design software, Google Suite, Zoom and other graphics/web applications, as well as email and internet access. The ability to learn additional software, as department needs dictate. The ability to use mass mailing services and analyze analytics.

  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
