About the Job

The Marketplace Infrastructure (MINFRA) team is responsible for building the tools and infrastructure that support many of Taskrabbit's busiest product-oriented engineering teams. We're the pit crew helping engineers stay on track and move faster! Our near term focus involves modernizing the frontend, including development of a robust design system and new web routes leveraging Next.js, in addition to improving marketing content generation efficiency and flexibility via headless CMS technologies.

As a Staff Engineer, you will help lead a team that designs, builds, evolves, and maintains the foundational ecosystem that powers Taskrabbit. Your decisions will have a significant and highly visible impact on engineering productivity and the direction of our product. Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the next generation of Taskrabbit's frontend (website and mobile apps)
  • Proposing and driving improvements to performance, reliability, and ease of development
  • Improving developer tooling and processes for product-oriented engineering teams
  • Guiding other engineers on best practices for designing and implementing features
  • Working with Engineering and Product leadership to develop an unified approach to engineering at Taskrabbit
  • Advising senior leadership team on current state of platform and future possibilities

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience developing modern web applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptionally strong technical design and architecture skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical subjects in simple terms
  • Passion for mentoring engineers earlier in their career
  • Passion for optimizing performance and developer experience
  • Experience building API-driven applications
  • Experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and React
  • Experience with Jest, React Testing Library, and other testing tools
  • Experience with modern frontend web development tools (NPM, Babel, ESLint, Webpack, etc.)
  • Experience building CI / CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, etc.)
  • Experience breaking down large tasks into easily understood and achievable iterations
  • Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g. agile processes, technical design documentation, unit and integration testing, code reviews, etc.)
