Who we are & why we're hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we're on a journey to becoming a globally antiracist company that supports diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

Twilio Segment is looking for a product-focused engineering leader passionate about creating high-quality user experiences for our customers. The Segment Self-Service CX team leads growth projects and in-app functionality to help customers sign up, activate, and upsell throughout their Segment journey.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading and growing a team of talented fullstack and frontend engineers to deliver on the Self-Service CX vision and roadmap. You will also be responsible for mentoring, sharing knowledge, and guiding the team's technical decisions to set us up for long-term success, both as a product and as a team. If you get excited by building products with high customer impact and working closely with design, product, and strong product-minded engineers, this is the perfect role for you.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:

  • Love working on high-impact features that will delight our customers.

  • Lead or assist in all aspects of the software development life cycle, ensuring the successful delivery and execution of our product vision.
  • Approach all engineering work with a security, reliability, privacy, and compliance lens.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having "desired" qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • Has 5+ years experience writing production-grade full-stack code in JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Has 2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Team Lead, or similar role.
  • You know how to source, recruit, hire and retain talented engineers.
  • You have a proven track record of strong partnerships with Product and Design, and care deeply about the success of customers in everything you build.
  • You have been a developer yourself with hands-on experience developing customer-facing full-stack web applications using a modern frontend development toolchain (React, Typescript, Node)
  • Experience managing software engineers in a technical and complex operations environment are highly desired.
  • You provide a deep understanding of the complexities involved in writing large single-page applications.

Desired:

  • Have been on a growth product team, or have seen the value of bottoms-up product thinking.
