Working collaboratively with and as a liaison to more than 100+ academic and central development program fundraisers and senior leaders, works to increase the pool of potential major gift donors and provides highly customized and strategic information that helps build relationships and increase giving. As an integral member of a fourteen-person team, contribute to implementing a comprehensive program of prospect identification, providing high-level background research, financial and demographic analysis and capacity evaluations, and executing a wide range of development research activities to support the campus-wide fundraising programs. Proactively and independently plan and execute strategies to identify sources of major gift ($50,000+) private support for campus-wide fundraising initiatives ensuring that prospects meet fundraising goals. Conduct and communicate results of extensive and complex financial research/ analysis. Analyze and assess information local, state and national resources to provide a comprehensive report of personal, financial and relationship based information and for solicitation strategy recommendations. Develop effective research strategies to utilize an expansive set of resources and to refine further research strategies and intelligence-gathering techniques. Write a variety of research documents and reports. Interpret and synthesize large volumes of information and complex financial, legal and technical language into easily comprehensible information. Evaluate research tools and emerging technologies and keep abreast of trends in the field of prospect research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Experience in prospect research, preferably in an academic setting. Advanced prospect research skills.
  • Experience conceptualizing developing and implementing proactive prospecting methodologies to identify potential major gift donors.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of best practices related to prospect research and fundraising.
  • Advanced skills to synthesize a high volume of information from a variety of sources and perform complex analysis to interpret financial data and individual wealth indicators, identify philanthropic patterns, and relationships among individuals, corporations and foundations.
  • Financial analysis skills to identify and interpret assets.
  • Knowledge of capacity rating systems and demonstrated experience providing capacity estimates.
  • Working knowledge of current prospect research technologies and databases. Experience using information databases and search techniques related to prospect research.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :

  • Proven ability to successfully interact and collaborate with varied constituencies in a professional manner via written and oral communication. Skills to present complex materials and concepts to management, peers and campus-wide fundraisers.
  • Decision making skills to prioritize tasks, manage time, anticipate problems, manage multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines. Advanced computer skills. Experience using Ellucion Advance alumni and donor database.
  • Skills at collaboration and team oriented. Awareness, knowledge, and skill in applying diversity, equity and inclusion to one’s work. A profound belief in the value of a diverse workforce and a desire to achieve goals through collaboration and team building, working cooperatively with a diverse group of department and campus constituencies.
